Emily is a junior majoring in journalism and philosophy. Most of her free time is spent working for The Badger Herald newspaper. She has held positions as a reporter, State News Associate Editor, Print News Editor, Marketing Strategist and voting member of the Board of Directors. She is most passionate about reporting on politics. When not working on things for the Herald, Emily spends time volunteering in a new campus organization Public Philosophy. She teaches philosophy to kindergarten to second grade kids at the Salvation Army. In the future, she hopes to become either a magazine writer, TV news reporter or lawyer.
Haidee Chu is a sophomore at UW- Madison studying sociology, graphic design and journalism with focuses in reporting and strategic communications. Haidee is enthused by explorations in identity and race relations (or really, any social justice issues). She hopes to one-day turn that passion into a career by becoming a human-interest story journalist. In pursuing that ambition, Haidee is constantly honing her editing and writing skills by serving as the Managing Editor at Her Campus Wisconsin, the Culture Editorial Assistant at Moda Magazine and a staff writer for Life & Style at the Daily Cardinal.
Sam Marz is a sophomore double-majoring in journalism and communication arts. She grew up in Pewaukee, Wisconsin, and always knew she wanted to explore writing. She has a passion for the arts, particularly film. She is currently the Arts editor of the Daily Cardinal student newspaper and an intern at WisconsinEye. She hopes to pursue a career focusing on arts journalism or film production. She enjoys watching films (of course), running and writing.
Rob Heimbruch is a junior double-tracking in journalism with a digital studies certificate. He also spends much of his time working as a multimedia journalist for Wisconsin Athletics. Rob’s passion lies in visual storytelling, specifically working as a self-contained reporter embedded in an athletics program. This summer he will work public relations for Branigan Communications in Milwaukee. As far as his future goes, he plans to pursue a career in sports media.
Jenna Mytton is a junior in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, studying both of the journalism tracks and political science with a certificate in environmental studies. Other than classes, she spends a lot of time working as a House Fellow in Ogg Hall and as the Social Media Manager for The Daily Cardinal. Jenna enjoys all things related to dogs, talking about politics and history, and taking Buzzfeed quizzes!
Sam is a senior studying communications arts, digital studies and double-tracking in Journalism. Upon graduating in May 2017, Sam is staying in Madison to work at Hiebing and to finish out the remainder of his summer bar kickball season. As a current employee of UW-Madison Communications, Sam helps run all the university social media accounts. Tweet at UW sometime, and they might just respond (depending on Sam’s mood).
Alanna Conley is currently a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-Madison studying journalism and political science. Born and raised in Milwaukee, Alanna is a lifelong Badger and Packer fan and in her free time enjoys reading movie reviews, listening to Bob Dylan and playing volleyball.
Connor is in his fourth of five years at UW, majoring in history, political science, journalism, and strategic communications. Connor serves as the Opinion Editor and Editorial Board member at The Badger Herald. Previously, he has spent time working in communications for Wisconsin political organizations. Connor is also a diehard Badger sports fan.
Jessi Schoville is a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison studying history and journalism with a focus in reporting. His main interests of study include sports media, media theory and photography. He is currently the football and men’s basketball beat writer for Rivals.com, in addition to working on football coverage for the Daily Cardinal. He is from Sauk City, Wisconsin and has an associate degree in Liberal Arts from Madison College.
L. Malik Anderson
L. Malik Anderson is a senior double majoring in journalism and radio-television-film while also pursuing a digital studies certificate at the University of Wisconsin- Madison. In addition to being a journalist, he is a blogger, poet, actor, photographer and videographer. L. Malik’s most interesting projects captures social justice dialogues in the context of our media and how they influence the world around us. He witnesses the world through the lens of his blackness and queerness, shaping his view on mainstream media. Published articles and features produced by L. Malik have appeared in The Cap Times, Madison Commons, The Madison Times, Madison 365, Wisconsin Public Radio and on Blavity.
Addison is a senior in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. She is double-tracking in both reporting and strategic communication with a certificate in art focusing on graphic design as well as a certificate in leadership. This small town Wisconsin native loves art, music, sports and talking. She will graduate in May 2017. She will continue working as Marketing and Design Associate for gener8tor, while applying for full-time graphic design work. Her involvement on the UW campus included Art Director of UW Advertising Club, many board positions of Wisco High Five Crew, AIGA, campus writer at The Daily Cardinal, CeO and many internships.
Katie Scheidt is a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison studying journalism with a focus in reporting and strategic communication. Katie is the Photo Editor at the Daily Cardinal and a marketing intern at the Wisconsin Union. She is also a published freelancer for Madison Magazine and the Isthmus. Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Katie is a proud midwesterner and can be usually found sipping on iced coffee on her back porch or biking around Madison. She would love to make a career out of photojournalism and plans on attending grad school somewhere on the east coast after graduating from UW.
Ben Leadholm is a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison studying journalism with a focus in reporting and strategic communications. Ben is also the beat writer covering the Wisconsin women’s hockey team for The Daily Cardinal and is an intern at RotoWire. He is a firm believer that it is never too cold for Babcock ice cream.
Celeste is a junior in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. She is also one of the arts editors at The Badger Herald student newspaper. Celeste fancies writing about anything music — doing interviews with local and touring bands, reviewing concerts or writing a personal column called Gr8 Unknowns. You can also find her rocking the bass in her dad-chic rock band, vhs.
Lisa Milter is a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison studying political science and journalism with a focus in reporting. She is a Chicago native, born and raised, and is planning on returning after graduation to start working in the best city in the world. When Lisa is not in class, you can find her working as a student assistant at the Undergraduate Learning Center, working as the multimedia editor for The Daily Cardinal and teaching Latin dance or competing for the Badger Ballroom Dance Team. She loves talking about politics, reading and writing, dancing, music and, of course, nerding out over Harry Potter and Game of Thrones.
Ben Pickman is a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison studying history and journalism with a focus in reporting. His main interests of study include sports media, media history and political reporting. He is currently the Gameday Editor and men’s basketball beat writer for the Daily Cardinal and he is a fellow at the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Center for Journalism Ethics. He is from New York City and has an associate degree in Arts from Bard College.
Jedd Soleway is a senior in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Jedd is a proud Canadian from Vernon, British Columbia. Outside of the J-school, Jedd plays for the University of Wisconsin-Madison Hockey team where he’s thrived as one of the Badger’s most outstanding defensemen.
Jacob is a sophomore double majoring in journalism and communication arts. He’s a big sports fan and enjoys the outdoors. He hosts two weekly sports talk radio shows on WSUM, where he will be taking over as Sports Director next fall. He enjoys providing play-by-play commentary at University of Wisconsin sporting events and Madison Capitols hockey games, along with taking pictures of nature. He also works as a news reporter for the Peshtigo Times, a newspaper in northeastern Wisconsin.
Jonah Malkin is a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He’s from Los Angeles, California and is majoring in reporting in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications. Jonah hosts his own weekly one-hour-long radio sports talk show and has broadcasted several sporting events this year. He is also on the UW Club Tennis Team and involved in the Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
Shaye Graves is a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She studies in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication with an emphasis in both reporting and strategic communication. In her spare time, Shaye writes for the Daily Cardinal student newspaper, MODA magazine and works extensively on Madison’s music seen with UW’s student radio network, WSUM. She is originally from Madison, Wisconsin.
